[ he narrows his eyes out over the water for a second, looking—a little uncertain? ]
...I truly do not know what I was looking at, in some cases. The cabin itself was not so strange—perhaps better furnished than ours—but there were aspects of it that I don't... understand.
[ Her patience is appreciated as he tries to figure out what the hell they found there. ]
Certainly. It was... Well, for one, the only drinks were those cans you might find in the Isolation Cabin. Sodas, I believe they're called.
[ He frowns a little. ]
There were chips, and—perhaps this is where you can help me—the other things in the kitchenette were... P*P Tarts? [ He thinks back on the other things. this is so incredibly stupid i'm sorry ] D*ritos... Actually, that's about it. Different colored containers of those.
Maybe it's where the person with that mask lives... At least, I haven't seen anyone else other than us and the counselors around here, and I guess he or she has to live somewhere. [...] Or it could have been the pink one, but I think finding wherever they live seems like something that wouldn't happen this quickly.
[You don't find the big bad's hideout until the last level, or something.]
Anyways, what happened after you found all the snack food?
[ for just a second, his expression darkens slightly. ]
I think it was more likely the snake.
[ final boss or no. but moving on. ]
Since you recognized that much, maybe you would understand the rest. In another room, there was... I believe you call them televisions. [ he has literally only witnessed these on the bus sob ] Fifteen on the walls, and one on a table. In front of them was a—chair, with small wheels on the feet.
There was one per cabin, including those belonging to the directors. We saw other campers moving on the televisions...
[ he is seriously too Ancient for this ]
The one in the center was different, though. It showed nothing, just some words and letters. [ what were they again? he sounds completely unsure when he says this aloud, ] CCTV Set A. Live...?
CCTV means closed circuit television. It's basically a type of video surveillance. Which matches up with the fact that they're watching all of us, I guess.
[ oh, she gets it. he's surprised, understands about 50% of that, but nods firmly. ]
Strange that even the directors' cabins were being shown, then.
[ at her apparent Comprehension, he moves more confidently onto the weirdest one. ]
The television on the table was different as well. It hinged somewhat like—a book, I suppose? And it had more writing on it... I believe it acted as a remote control [ he knows this, at least? ] for the music in the room. It also had several rows of buttons with letters and symbols underneath, perhaps to control the television itself?
[ this is very helpful advice considering he doesn't know what hacking is either because he is useless, throws him into the lake
he nods. ]
I will ask him what he knows.
[ he pauses there though, lips thinned together a moment. ]
The... laptop. After we pressed some of the buttons, what we saw changed. There was some sort of list—but it disappeared before we could read it. And then everything went pink.
[ hence, snake. ]
I could scarcely look at it without getting a headache.
Right. There was music playing around the televisions—I believe it was connected to the laptop somehow. Originally, it started as...
[ this is. embarrassing. but after a length pause he hum-sings out the first several, broken lines of a jaunty tune. it's one they've heard before. ]
Um... something like that. It changed to another, but by that point I was not listening very closely. [ there was a lot of abba in this cabin. ] But that is a very good guess—I think you're right.
...The dancing queen part on the screen was probably talking about the music, then. It's a song by the same band as the one you just hummed.
[Why does the pink snake like Swedish pop. She's so tired.]
I guess that just leaves the first line. [...] Were there any clues in the room about what it could be referring to? It's tougher, with so many of the letters gone.
[ wow, natalie is? so great at this? his mood has been absolutely foul since he returned, but he looks at her with a little awe. ]
I see—you must be very familiar with such things, to recognize it so immediately.
[ an abba expert. in any case, this one confuses him a bit, but he tries. ]
Um... it was on the laptop. I'm truly sorry, but I don't know how to describe it very well... It had a picture and other words. Like—ah, like Dancing Queen!

[She takes a seat next to him.]
And you’re Dimitri, yeah?
no subject
I'll try to explain as best I can. Though I'm not sure how helpful it will be.
no subject
Why do you say that?

...I truly do not know what I was looking at, in some cases. The cabin itself was not so strange—perhaps better furnished than ours—but there were aspects of it that I don't... understand.

Well... Can you try to describe it to me, at least? Even if it doesn’t make sense.

Certainly. It was... Well, for one, the only drinks were those cans you might find in the Isolation Cabin. Sodas, I believe they're called.

What, was a twelve year old boy living there alone or something?
no subject
[ He crosses his arms, brows furrowed. ]
The cabin was rather unkempt, so you may be right.

So, a bunch of TVs, and a rolling chair for whoever was hanging out watching them. [...] Any idea why there were so many?

—Oh, you mean a laptop?
[She says, as if he'll know what she means by that.]
no subject
If you say so.
[ (yes, sobs, a laptop) ]
Giyuu brought it back with him, so I can show you later, if you like.

[Ah.]
Like, the entire room, or just the TV screens?
no subject
[ he sounds frustrated by this—it was not. a fun experience. ]
It was just the laptop that turned pink. The televisions turned off—ah, it did say something, though. I wrote it down—
[ he'll rummage for a sheet of paper in his jacket; the writing is haphazard and running into itself, but spells out:
S*****Y
Dancing Queen
CMPNTGN
CONNECTION LOST. REOPEN APPLICATION TO RECONNECT.
He'll point to that last one. ]
This was on the television. The others were on the laptop.
no subject
You mentioned music before, can you describe what it was?
[Just in case that's the connection, so she doesn't have to think more about what ABBA has to do with this. As for the third line:]
...Camp Not Again, if I'm guessing right.

[She refuses to be known as an ABBA expert, even if half the people in this camp probably don't know who ABBA is. It's fine.
She pauses, though, pulling out her notebook and a pen to him.]
Can you draw the picture? Or remember any other words you saw?
