Mm. [ it was indeed. he flexes his fingers, momentarily, testing his mobility. ] Unlike that mansion from the tree, I don't believe that ours was real.
When we came through the tent, there was someone there from the island, but she was much younger, maybe eleven or twelve years old. She was insistent on treating us for our injuries--more so Lady Flayn, than myself. She had a syringe, and she mentioned treating us for 'residuals'. Upon saying so, there were these odd lumps and bumps that appeared under our skin. They moved about like bugs. [ haha!!! gross. ]
At that moment, I thought the girl from the island must have been some sort of creation of resentful energy, an evil spirit. So, I put myself between Lady Flayn and attempted to disarm her, but she was far stronger than I would have expected, and whatever those 'residuals' were, they slowed my movements. I thought it must have been some kind of paralytic, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made Lady Flayn's wound worse, too.
That's correct. I'd thought they were referring to the bumps alone as some sort of creature, but now, I'm more in line with that thought.
[ absently, he taps his hand against his forearm, trying to remember. ] I could see them, more so than anything, but I felt it when they were starting to slow me down. When I wasn't cooperative, she attacked us both with the intent to kill us, but I was able to take care of it.
...What was odd, though, is when she was attacking me, I was fighting back, and when she dodged one of my strikes, it felt like the knife I had caught in midair. When I pulled the knife back out, it tore straight through air like it was some sort of fabric, and it all faded away.
[She listens as he continues to explain what happened, but once he's done:]
You mean, like... You tried to stab her and missed, and even though you hit what looked like empty air, you felt the knife tearing into something? [...] If it really was an illusion, maybe you stabbed into something you couldn't see.
[ yin yu nods!! ] Exactly like that. The islander who was attacking us stayed until she was incapacitated, but, we were reunited with Lady Lili in her own situation as soon as we got free of ours.
...What is concerning is that, I know that it was an illusion, but. [ he pauses, and turns his bandaged palm over to look at. ] That didn't change the fact that all three of us came out quite worse for wear.
Somehow. [ he agrees, looking at his hand again. it certainly felt real. ] I'm not entirely sure what it meant, beyond that there are far more tricks to this place than I even originally thought.
I have a theory that what Lady Lili saw must have been from the place she came from before, but I can't make any assumptions without confirming it. [ sharks?? why were there sharks. he has some questions! ] The circumstances of both places were strange, but once we realized it was an illusion, so to speak, it started to end.
[ mm! before he forgets. there was actually something useful beyond all this magical business. ] The area we explored did turn out to be an infirmary, and nothing like when we first walked in, so I can safely assume that was an illusion, too. We had to rush out, and the door had locked back behind us, though I know how to get in now, so it may be worth exploring again, maybe in a larger group.
[ ahaha... he ducks his head, and gives her a small, apologetic smile. ]
Not on first glance, but I confess, I didn't have much time to look. We were trying to get Lady Lili and Lady Flayn to someone more qualified as quickly as possible.
[ even if had been fully stocked, he wouldn't have been helpful beyond the most basics; he'd been on autopilot, rushing to find dick or shinobu as quickly as possible. ] It would certainly be worth a second pass.

[It brings an unpleasant thought to mind, but she pushes past it, tilting her head.]
Could you actually feel something moving around under your skin, or did you just see it happening?
[Either way, fucked up!! She looks disturbed as she asks.]

[Weird. She frowns, thinking it over, but:]
Any idea what that might mean? Or... Anything else you noticed?

So the infirmary stayed even after the illusion faded... Did it look like it was pretty well stocked? Bandages, medicine, that kind of thing?

Yeah, we can check it out. [...] Did anything else important happen?

That's as much as I can recall. I hope that helps some, my lady.

[She's been pretty well behaved since she's on an Info Gathering Mission, but some of her natural flippancy comes through in those words.]
